HR Performance Consultant and Coach, Rev. Bernie Osei Duah, has stated why privacy is necessary in every relationship or marriage.
Explaining what privacy is, he mentioned that it has to do with being unobserved or doing things lone.
“So when you do something out of the eyes or ears of everyone, we say it’s private. Secrecy on the other hand is hiding on purpose and keeping it hidden to ensure that it doesn’t come to light. So, there’s a deliberate effort when it comes to secrecy but for privacy it’s almost unobserved,” he explained.
In an interview with Nana Yaw Odame on e.tv Ghana’s ‘Men’s Lounge Show’, he said, “Some elements of privacy are needed by an individual even if they are in a love relationship or married. The same way everyone needs some level of privacy because there are somethings, you’ll want to do you’ll want to keep it in the way that it’s not in the eye of others.”
The man of God believes that, to a very large extent as humans, there are some elements of privacy that is required in daily living.
“There are some things you can keep a secret which are not necessarily bad. But when it comes to the elements of privacy, there are some aspects of your living together that will require the essence of being private,” he said.
Citing family as an example, he noted that although a family is a unit, anyone who goes deeper will know that there are elements of individuals in there and that makes it a family.
“So being married and sharing your life together doesn’t also mean that you shouldn’t be able to have boundaries in certain things. But, they should be things that should not go beyond certain limits because you’re sharing your life with the person so they are supposed to know,” he noted.
