A Media/Communication consultant and a Lecturer at African University College of Communication (AUCC), Samuel Ato Afful has said that politicians deliberately evoke arguments amongst citizens by using their authority and political talks.
He made this statement on Happy FM’s “Epa Hoa Daben” show.
“Sometimes politicians talk to also get the people talking. Their aim is to cause controversy and spark arguments and that is exactly what we are doing”, he said.
He was speaking to the recent war of words over the CST charges between the Minister of Communication, Ursula Owusu Ekuful and the former Deputy Minister of Finance and the current Member of Parliament of Ajumako-Enyan-Ensiam Constituency, Cassiel Ato Forson. The squabble is said to have began when the former Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson wrote to the Communication Minister indicating that she had no right to direct the telecommunications companies on CST charges. This was however not received well by the Minister of Communication as she stated in a letter to Ato Forson that she does not receive “advice from a brothel”.
Samuel Ato Afful has said that the Minister’s statement was unnecessary as it negates all the good points she made in the letter and also shifts the narrative from the real issue at hand.
Cassiel Ato Forson has recently replied the Minister of Communication with a Bible verse indicating that he will no longer continue in a brawl with Ursula Owusu Ekuful.
