Head coach of current Women’s Premier League champions, Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC, Joe Nana Adarkwah has disclosed that new players will be recruited to beef up his squad ahead of the 2023 WAFU Zone B championship.
Ampem Darkoa Ladies recorded a penalty shootout win over Hasaacas Ladies to win their fourth Women’s Premier League title that gives them the nod to once again represent Ghana in the 2023 WAFU Zone B Championship.
They defeated rivals Hasaacas Ladies 5-3 via penalty shootouts after a 1-1 stalemate in an epic final last Friday at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
“Before heading to represent Ghana in Africa, we will augment our squad so we can punch above our weights. We have scouted three players in Kumasi, Supreme Ladies and also in Accra, Faith Ladies. We want to recruit about six to seven players to boost our squad depth ahead of Africa. We are going to represent Ghana, not Ampem Darkoa Ladies so we need to have a very formidable team,” coach Adarkwa said in an interview on Happy 98.9FM’s Wamputu Sports.
Coach Adarkwa and his girls will have the opportunity once again to represent the country in the upcoming WAFU Zone B Championship and will hope to exceed last year’s abysmal performance as they set sights this time on nothing but a spot in the third edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
