Anti–Corruption Coalition signs MoU with youth leaders for violence free elections
Civil Society Group, the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition has signed a peace-pact with Ghana’s youth groups. The move is to ensure violent-free elections in December.
The Coalition believes this agreement would guarantee peace in the December poll as the country’s credentials will be put to test again during the elections.
The country is seeking to avoid the electoral violence experienced by some of her peers in Africa.
The peace pact signed with the youth groups is premised on grounds that the youth are the vessels used by politicians to cause violence.
The agreement binds the younger generation to commit to peace. They are also to shun inciting politicians.
Chairman of the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition, Rev Fred Degbe noted that the election should be fair and free of violence and cheating.
Breaches of the pact attract serious sanctions such as name and shame and public denouncement of the individual or groups.
