Donations to Osu Children's Home reduce after Anas' shocking revelation
Donations to the Osu Children’s home has drastically reduced in 2011, a year after investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas revealed serious rot in the application of the funds received for the upkeep of the orphans there.
His investigations also exposed heart wrenching revelation of the pain, terror, and reckless abandonment of children at the Osu Children’s Home.
The orphans according to the investigations endure this pain in the hands of their supposed care givers.Investigations were called into the activities of the home.
The bad press received by the home is beginning to have a telling effect on their operations as donations have dropped to its lowest ever since its establishment.
Director of the children’s home, Sharon Abbey noted that, “Donations have not been all that encouraging as compared to previous years. Some organizations and individuals are trickling in with donations. Some also have activities planned for the children. We also want to encourage the general public to associate themselves to the orphanage. “
Disguised as Hajia Barikisu, a merchant from Mali, Anas revealed how some of the kids died, sometimes without the knowledge of the care givers.
It discovered that it was even possible and in fact easy to steal children from the home without the knowledge of the authorities according to the revelations. Also disguised as Rev Abednego Akpabli, Anas struck a fine cord with the children and offered them the love and care they claim to have been denied for the many years they have stayed in the home.
Little offences such as lying have the ultimate punishment of a one month solitary confinement, a place Anas describes as terror in Osu Children’s Home.
