Main pipeline over the Korle Lagoon caving in
A major disaster looms at the Odaw River end of the Graphic road as the main pipeline that runs across the river is caving in and could cause massive flooding if it does.
This could also result in break in water supply to most parts of Accra including the seat of government and other important state institutions.
e.tv Ghana’s Naadi Bitlegma who happened to be at the scene reports that as high pressured water is gushing out of the neglected broken pipeline, women are taking advantage of the situation to collect as much water as they can for domestic use.
According to him, the metal screws on the pipeline are old and rusty, and the metal realm can no longer bear the weight of the pipeline.
He reports that although construction work is ongoing, nobody seems to care about the situation.
