Mad rush for gold at Elmina
Joy FM's Central Regional correspondent, Richard Kojo Nyarko reports of a major discovery of gold at the Elmina beach.
He reports that scores of residents are scrambling for the so called discovery while some are carting away sea sand to their homes to protect their expected booty.
He says fishermen in the town have virtually abandoned their canoes and spent the night with their wives and children digging and washing sand for the mineral.
The Daily Graphic also reports that for the past few weeks most of the youth at have been washing the sand at the beach looking for gold.
One lady who only gave her name as Womanbaser who seems to know everything about the galamsey business said they have been sending gold to Tarkwa in the Western Region for sale which she said is fetching them good money.
Some fishermen have also abandoned fishing to join the galamsey business which they say gives them more money than fishing.
School children have also not been left out as some have also joined the rush for gold on the beach.
