Proposed military hospital in Kwadaso on course-Defence Minister
Defense Minister, Lt. Gen. Joseph Henry Smith says preparation to construct the proposed Military Hospital in Kwadaso in the Ashanti Region is on course.
The minister was answering a question that arose from a newspaper publication that government is considering the relocation of the facility to Accra.
In his response the Minister debunked the allegations that the proposed military hospital near the Sofoline interchange in Kwadaso in the Ashanti regional capital was being considered by government to be relocated to the country’s capital.
He assured the house that his ministry was equally interested in the project and therefore the project will begin in Kumasi as soon as problems relating to the construction of the hospital were resolved.
But the minority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu was not satisfied with his assurance and demanded from the Minister if government had ever considered relocating the project from Kumasi to 37 in Accra.
The Defence Minister further said that government had embarked on a process to restructure the medical core of the Armed Forces and in the process a lot of options were brought forward for consideration.
He further stressed that the “the bottomline is that the Kumasi project is on course.”
The defense minister hinted that encroachers have taken over the land proposed for the facility adding that a team from the ministry is set for inspection of the land to put things in order.
