National Identification Authority starts distribution of "Ghana cards"
The National Identification Authority has re-started the distribution of the National Identity Cards, known as the “Ghana card”.
The distribution is expected to take place between the November 17 to 28 for residents of the Ayawaso sub metro made up of Nima, Kanda East Legon, Kotobabi Pig Farm Abelenkpe and surrounding areas.
Although the operation is generally anticipated to be smooth, our reporter Johanes Mcwood reports that the inadequacy of operators, supervisors and monitors stands at jeopardizing the harmony of the exercise.
The establishment of the National Identification Authority by the government is to create a national data to help implement the National Identification system.
The introduction of the Ghana Card therefore serves as a national database to collect and provide accurate and comprehensive information on the population. This in turn will facilitate and support the social, economic and political development of the country.
The distribution of the Ghana card has however been greeted with various forms of misunderstandings. At some distribution centres at the Ayawaso Sub-metro, e.tv Ghana gathered that the inadequacy of NIA personnel is causing delays in the exercise.
The situation was however different at the Kanda centre as an agent of the NIA told e.tv Ghana news that the turn up for the exercise is rather not encouraging.
