Aggravated youth in Manhyia want bad roads reconstructed
Angry and frustrated youth in and out of Manhyia are appealing to government to reconstruct the roads that link the various towns. Some communities have been cut off as a result of the bad nature of the road.
The situation has further been worsened by the recent floods in the area which caused the Nsaki River to overflow its banks. This has given the youth no other option than to take to the streets to drum home their message.
As a result of the bad nature of the road, the youth have constructed a temporary bridge to assist women and school children to commute between the communities. This situation is retarding economic activities in the area.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for the community, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, says construction work on the road was disrupted as a result of the floods:
The aggravated youth are also demanding assistance for victims of the floods. They accused the contractor of delivering shoddy work since the floods have washed away some of the drainage system constructed.
They have, therefore, resolved not to cast their votes during the 2012 general elections if the road is not reconstructed in time.
