National Youth Bill to appear before Parliament
A National Youth Bill (NYB) is expected to appear before parliament next year. The Bill is to enhance the participation of the youth in national development.
At the launch of the National Youth Parliament Consultative Forum, the Minister of Youth and Sport, Clement Kofi Humado, says the Youth Parliament will be an effective tool in Ghana’s development process.
Earlier in June this year, the African Union (AU) heads of states declared 2009-2018 as a decade for youth development in Africa.
Thus, the observance of the African Youth Day on November 1 in each member state is to underscore the key role played by the youth in national development.
Subsequently, the launch of the National Youth Policy in Ghana in 2010 has enhanced the operations of the National Youth Authority, leading to the formation of the National Youth Parliamentary Consultative Forum which is to establish the National Youth Parliament.
Explaining further, the Youth and Sport Minister noted that the youth parliament will impact on the youth the principle of good governance, adding that, it will liaise with parliament to also make contributions to key issues discussed in the floor of the house.
