Court begins trial over Ghana Telecom sale
An Accra commercial court today, began trial on the suit filed against the sale of Ghana Telecom (GT) to UK telecom giant, Vodafone International.
The case has been delayed for about a year now to allow the court go through procedures to determine whether or not it has jurisdiction to hear the suit and whether the plaintiff has anylocus standi in the matter.
The suit was filed by Professor Agyeman Badu Akosah and six others, seeing the abrogation of the sale of government’s 70’s percent share in Ghana telecom to Vodafone.
They initiated the action as Ghanaian citizens. The case has now been assigned to High Court judge, Gertrude Torkornu with Bright Akwetey as legal counsel for the plaintiffs
