Sekondi-Takoradi Mayor appeals to the conscience of striking doctors

The Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Anthony Cudjoe (Rtd), has cautioned Ghanaians to desist from hurling insults at medical doctors for laying down their tools in protest against their botched migration onto the Single Spine Pay Policy.

The Mayor is rather calling on religious bodies and the general public to appeal to the conscience of the doctors.

He gave the caution during an unannounced visit to major health facilities in the Metropolis on Tuesday to assess the effect of the 10-day strike.

During his visit to all four major health facilities in the metropolis, where the strike had taken its toll on health delivery, Mr. Cudjoe reiterated the need for medical doctors to return to work whiles negotiations continue, but called on all and sundry to appeal to the conscience of the doctors at this crucial moment instead of hurling insults at them, since that could aggravate the already worsened situation.

He also cautioned against attempts to politicize the doctors’ actions and assured the doctors of Government’s commitment to find a lasting solution to the their grievances.
