The police have released the New Patriotic Party MP for Aburi-Nsawam, Hon. O. B Amoah, in less than 24 hours of his arrest in connection with the GhC51 million judgment debt scandal involving businessman Alfred Woyome.

The former deputy Minister of Youth and Sports was released on GhC 20 million police inquiry bail with two sureties to justify. He was arrested on Sunday evening around 9pm at his Parakuo Estates residence near Dome.

Hon. Amoah has been charged with causing financial loss to the state.

Mr. Fred Oware, the first vice chairman and the party's general secretary, Sir John, stood surety for him, according to lawyer Thaddeus Sory.

The Minority Leader, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu confirmed the news to Citi News moments after his release.

Lawyer Sory told Citi News his client is in good shape.

“He is in good condition,” Mr. Sory said. “I have been with him since morning. He has been released on GhC20 million police inquiry bail with two sureties to justify. ”

Prior to his release, some angry youth in Nsawam in the Eastern region of Ghana, had threatened a naked demonstration if the legislator was not released within 24 hours. The NPP minority in Parliament on Monday also boycotted a meeting with a delegation of MPs from the UK in solidarity with their colleague.
