DSP Tehoda finally released

courtAccra, Feb. 16, 2012

After three attempts to be set free from BNI cells, the Deputy Head of the Commercial Crimes Unit of the Police CID has been finally released.

DSP Gifty Mawuenyegah Tehoda who is at the centre of the cocaine-turned-baking-soda saga gained her freedom after an Accra High Court held her bail plea on Tuesday in the sum of GHC100,000.

Her bail was granted after her lawyers met the bail bond requirement demanded by the High Court.

The first time she was granted bail was for ‘unlawful detention’ and on the second occasion for an ‘alien’ charge preferred against her.

DSP Tehoda has been in the custody of the Bureau of National Investigations since December 29 for the alleged role she played in the cocaine-turned-baking soda scandal.
