Woyome's bail bond slashed down
Accra, Feb 16, 2012
A Financial Court in Accra has slashed down the bail bond of embattled businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome. The bail bond was slashed from GhC54 million to GhC20 million.
The new bail conditions come with three sureties to be justified instead of the previous two.
Lawyers of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) financier prayed the court to reduce it when it became evidently clear that the philanthropist was finding it difficult to meet the bond granted him by an Accra High Court on Monday.
Mr. Woyome has since remained in the Police CID cells until he meets the requirement.
He is being tried along with three others – a chief state attorney, Samuel Nerquaye-Tetteh and his wife as well as a director at the Ministry of Finance, Paul Asimenu, for their alleged role in the controversial GHC51 million judgment payment debt.
