President Mills delivers last State of Nation address
Accra, Feb. 16, 2012
President John Evans Atta Mills will, today, deliver his last State of the Nation address to Parliament as his first term in office draws close to an end.
President Mills will be talking about his achievements in the past three years and the remaining months of his first term.
However, Members of Parliament had on Tuesday threatened the president with a boycott unless he determines their salaries and emoluments, but Deputy Minister for Information, James Agyenim Boateng says all is set for the President to address the country.
While some parliamentarians and other political party executives expect President Mills to indicate steps he intends to take to intensify the war against corruption, others are of the view that nothing new will be contained in his address.
Communications Director of the CPP, Nii Armah Akomfrah, says the president must "show the true state of the nation".
PNC Chairman Alhaji Ahmed Ramadan expects the president to outline his successes but should be candid about targets not met.
NPP General Secretary Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie says he is not expecting anything new.
