United Way Ghana shows love on Val's Day
Accra, Feb. 15, 2012
United Way Ghana (UWG), yesterday, brought some smiles to people living in deprived communities as the world celebrated the day of love, Valentine’s Day.
United way Ghana is a member of United Way Worldwide, the global network for fundraising and donations. Since its inception in Ghana nine years ago, United Way Ghana has touched lots of lives in deprived communities.
As loved ones celebrated Valentine’s Day, United Way volunteers spent their time comforting those in need.
President of the group in Ghana, Julliete Tuakli, noted that the greatest form of love is to show kindness and care to people especially the needy.
She said among other things, the group will construct school blocks and service centres and provide electricity to some schools and orphanages to some eight project sites slated to benefit from this year’s volunteer event.
Qubbatul Khadrah Islamic School in Nima also benefited from yesterday’s gesture as it had its walls painted, while text books and school uniforms were distributed to needy children.
The pupils were also treated to performance awards, among other activities.
