NDC will lose December elections if... Michael Teye Nyaunu
Accra 8th February, 2012
Outgoing NDC Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo, Michael Teye Nyaunu says the party could crumble in 2012 general elections if the current turmoil over the Woyome scandal is not resolved.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with etv Ghana News, Micheal Tei Nyaunu who lost the party's parliamentary primary election to the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Ebenezer Teye Larbi said the NDC is channeling energies to fighting itself and that those energies must rather be reserved to fight their opponents during the 2012 elections.
“Defeat is smiling at the NDC, defeat is ready to welcome NDC, defeat wants to embrace NDC. Until we wake up to do something to go the extra mile with a speed of about five times, we shall have serious problems in the December polls” he said.
He blamed the struggle between President Mills and former President Rawlings for the division in the party saying that "... a lot of things have come together to cause the division...bootlicking, undermining, character assassination, false accusations and all these things are going on… the incumbent and the former President, that antagonist relationship between them, no good will…”
He took a swipe at the leadership of the party mentioning the National Chairman, Dr. Kwabena Adjei as one who had to take certain actions earlier before writing the recently leaked letter to President Atta Mills.
“My problem with the National Chairman is that, his letter is a bit too late. I expected him to be proactive.Proactive in the sense that Dr.Kwabena Adjei could have called more respected people in the party, sit them down and tell them that these are my challenges...” Mr. Teye Nyaunu said.
In recent times, lot of issues have rocked the ruling NDC with the Woyome saga which has already resulted in the resignation and sack of some ministers and the arrest and trial of some party big wigs taking centre stage.
