Alfred Woyome refused bail, charged with fraud
Business man and NDC financier, Alfred Agbesi Woyome along with three others, have formally been charged by an Accra High Court for defrauding the state of GHC51 million. The three others are Chief State Attorney, Samuel Nerquaye-Tetteh and his wife and Legal Director at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MOFEP), Paul Asimenu.
Out of the six charges, prosecutors preferred three against Mr. Woyome, two for Nerquaye-Tetteh and one for both his wife and Asimenu.
Mr Woyome was charged with conspiracy to commit crime, defrauding by false pretense and corrupting public officials. The Legal Director at MOFEP, Paul Asimenu has also been charged with abetment of crime whilst the Chief State Attorney and his wife have been charged with aiding and abetment of crime.
Businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome will remain in police custody after attempts by his lawyer to secure him one was refused bail by the court.
Mr Kwame Akuffo, lawyer of Paul Asimenu, a Director at the Legal Department of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning who has also been arrested over the Woyome saga, told Joy News his client has been charged with abetment of crime.
Chief State Attorney, Samuel Nerquaye-Tetteh and wife Gifty Nerquaye-Tetteh who are also before the court have been charged with aiding and abetment of crime.
