“NDC has apologized for undermining me”- Michael Teye Nyaunuf
Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo, Michael Teye Nyaunu says he has accepted the apology rendered by the majority in parliament after they allegedly failed to recognize his current status as first Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament.
He said in an interview on e.tv Ghana’s Awake show that, after realizing their mistake, a caucus meeting was held with the majority MPs to resolve the issue.
The apology came about after the Lower Manya Krobo MP accused the majority in Parliament of a deliberate plot to undermine his new position as the Deputy Speaker of the Ecowas Parliament.
Michael Teye Nyaunu was elected into the new position in August this year by Members of the Ecowas Parliament at a meeting in the Nigerian Capital, Abuja.
His accusations were that, majority leader Cletus Avoka and his deputy, Rashid Pelpuo, were leading an ‘evil plot’ to run him down and keep his new position in eternal darkness.
According to him, it could be partially right that the majority in parliament was ganging up against him due to constant criticisms of the Atta Mills led administration and his opened support to the former first lady, Mrs Rawlings during the party’s presidential primaries.
He expressed no regrets for his support to the former first lady since according to him, it had rather deepened democracy in the party.
Michael Teye Nyaunu added that his call for recognition was not an attempt to blow his own horns; rather he deemed it right for Ghanaians to know about the great feat being accomplished by the country even at the ECOWAS regional level.
