NPP launches new electronic paying system
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) yesterday began an electronic registration of its members. The new registration platform is expected to help improve the management of its membership database while ensuring maximum revenue from donations towards the party’s quest for power in 2012.
The electronic payment and identification system will allow existing members to validate their membership by texting their name and party ID numbers to a network short code and also allow prospective members to sign up electronically.
By this new technology, members will now pay their dues through Short Message Service (SMS). Members subscribed to Airtel, Expresso and Tigo networks are required to text their names or card number to 2012, while MTN users are expected to text to 12012 and Vodafone users to +2012.
The party’s general secretary Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie explains that the system will help members take full ownership of the party.
Chairman of the party Jake Obetsebi Lamptey who launched the electronic system asked members to use the system to show their commitment to the party.
