PPP awaits final certificate to operate fully
Executives of the newly formed Progressive People’s Party (PPP) are waiting fervently for a final certificate from the Electoral Commission. The additional certificate will enable the party start full operations.
The EC on February 3, 2012 presented an interim certificate to the party to operate as a political party.
The interim certificate allows the party to organize itself and undertake other activities to meet the requirement of the Political Parties’ Law before receiving the final certificate as a political party.
Meanwhile, the party is seriously preparing towards the December 2012 polls although regional executives are yet to decide dates for the election of parliamentary candidates.
This will be followed by the major congress that will elect the presidential candidate, likely to be Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom.
The party’s hands are currently tied with preparations towards its first national convention, slated for February 25.
3,500 delegates are expected to attend this convention which aims at educating its grassroots supporters.
The party believes the NDC and NPP have failed the country of basic amenities including housing, education and sanitation.
It is therefore positioning itself as the better choice for a progressive Ghana.
The PPP was formed by the 2008 flagbearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom upon his exit from the CPP last year.
