The Electoral Commission (EC) has provided Dr Paa Kwasi Nduom’s Progressive People’s Party (PPP) an interim certificate to operate as a political party.

Signed by the Deputy Chairman of the EC, Mr Kwadwo Safo-Kantanka, the interim certificate read “This is to certify that the Electoral Commission has presented the PPP with a provisional certificate of registration as a political party on this day, Thursday, 2nd February, 2012 in partial fulfillment of the Political Parties Act 2000 Act 547 Section 8 Sub-section 2.”

Meanwhile a report by the Daily Graphic said the National Secretary of the PPP, Mr Kofi Siaw-Asamoah in an interview said, the provision of the interim certificate would enable the party to continue its membership mobilization drive.

He added that as part of the national mobilization of members, the party would also open nominations for parliamentary aspirants from February 6 to February 29, 2012.

He said aspirants are to pay GHC100 for the nomination fee. Male aspirants above 35 years will pay a filing fee of GHC1000, while males below 35 years and females would pay GHC500.
