First ever Ghana Fashion Awards takes place in Accra

On Friday, Ghana chalked another milestone in the fashion industry when it successfully   organized the first ever fashion awards.

The ceremony was to honor and appreciate young designers, throwing more emphasis on the need to appreciate our fashion designers.

The almost three and a half hour programme was interspersed with life band music, cat walk on the run way, selected  songs from veteran musician Ben Brako,   and  other  underground artistes.

The catwalk show featured various talents from Mina Evans, Afri- Ken Novelty, House of Agyeiwaa, Robby wear and other fashion houses.

At the end of the day six talented individuals were awarded for their contribution to the fashion industry in Ghana

Model of the Year award was given to Grace Sarfo, Designer of the Year; Christy Brown, Emerging Designer of the Year; Eduaba Designs, Best Casaual Wear (T-Shirt category); Monarki, Best Accessories; Inka Accessories and the Best Photography Supporting the Fashion Industry Award went to Steve Austin.

The awards ceremony was graced by Fashion guns like Kofi Ansah, Joyce Ababio  and  attended by celebrities and  winners from various 2011 beauty  pageants.
