Miss ECOWAS Ghana 2010 denies switching career to music

Last year’s winner of Miss ECOWAS Ghana 2010, Ramatu Sidic, has debunked rumors that she is venturing into the music industry for commercial purposes.

Speaking on e.tv Ghana's Awake, Ramatu admitted that she is into music and that she had recorded a song. However she moved to deny claims that the song was a vehicle to drive a switch into a full-time career in music. Instead she insisted that this single was her personal project she was embarking on in an effort to promote peace.

Ramatu was optimistic that the song was not going to be a one-off project, but part of wider continuous project which she hopes to promote all across west Africa.

Asked by Awake's host Rashida Nasamu about the message behind the song, Ramatu explained that she wanted to urge the youth to be proponents of peace during next year's elections so that Ghana doesn't go the way of many other African states whose elections are often marred by clashes, violence and voter intimidation. She added, “During elections, the youth find themselves in conflict and are pushed to the war front.” She finished by stating that her music is expected to foster unity and peace among the youth factions of the various political parties.

According to her, the said track is a collaboration with Trigmatic, Richie, Iwan, Zigi and Jay Town. She hoped that the music video will be out before the 2012 general elections.
