Ghana Blind Union to organise braille competition
The Ghana Blind Union in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the National Braille Council are organising a Braille competition for visually impaired persons in the country.
The competition which is geared towards encouraging the use of the Braille is set to take place at the Okuapeman Senior High School on Tuesday, January 31, 2012.

Director of the Ghana Blinds Union, Mr Peter Obeng Asamoah in an interview with e.tv Ghana’s Awake host, Rashida Nasamu, said the competition is also intended to whip up the interest of reading with the Braille.
He explained that the reason for the competition was due to the fact that some visually impaired persons were discouraged to use the Braille due to its cumbersome nature.
The competition will be held at three levels; basic level, intermediary level and senior high level. Eleven schools are expected to take part in the competition.
