CCT accuses GNAT of poor conditions of teachers

A new union made of teachers calling itself the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT) is blaming their mother union Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) for not fighting for the welfare of teachers.
In an exclusive interview with e.tv Ghana news, the president of the group Ernest Opoku blamed GNAT and NAGRAT for the woes of teachers in the country.
The president of CCT says it should be a huge worry for teachers unions that professionals in the area of teaching are the least paid in the country.
He is accusing the Ghana National Association of Teachers and (NAGRAT) for collecting part of teachers’ meagre salaries to enrich themselves.
The new group says top of its agenda is to fight for better conditions of service for teachers, whiles it also ensures quality teaching in schools.
The president is calling on the GES to also institute a monitoring team that will inspect quality teaching in schools to supplement the union’s efforts. He is also quick to add that the concerned teachers association will work hand in hand with GNAT and NAGRAT for the betterment of teachers.
