School of Performing Arts, Legodn, launches 50th anniversary celebrations

The School of Performing Arts of the University of Ghana, Legon, has launched its fiftieth anniversary celebrations with a call on students to take their studies seriously irrespective of the course they are studying.

The Managing Director of Afrodan Ghana Ltd. Eden Takyi-Micah, an Alumnus of the University made the call when he was addressing both current and old students at a home coming durbar organized by the Faculty of Arts.

However, the event took a different turn, when the occasion, which was supposed to be used as a platform for unity amongst both old and current students of the faculty, experienced a poor turn up of  old students.

Nonetheless, the Managing Director of Afrodan Ghana Ltd., Eden Takyi-Micah, treated his fellow Alumni to interesting reminisce of what campus life felt like.

He said for the University to have a world class standard, it should be weaned from the arms of government.

The Acting Dean of the University, Prof. Cephas Omenyo indicated that in a bid to make the Faculty of Arts world class, plans were well advanced in making their programs more reflective of global trends. The occasion was also used to raise funds to help complete certain projects at the school
