Brekusohene promotes education in the Akuapem Traditional Area

The Twafohene of the Akuapem Traditional Area, Odeifuo Nana Oteng Korankye II, has pledged his efforts to the promotion of education in his community.

Odeifuo Korankye II, who also doubles as Brekusohene said this morning on e.tv Ghana’s Awake morning show that his efforts is to advance the overall development of the Akuapem area.

For that matter, he said, “My traditional council and I did not hesitate to give a 100 acre land to Ashesi University College when they proposed to situate their new campus at Brekusu.”

Odeifuo Korankye bewailed the poor performance of students in the locality who wrote the 2010 Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE), and was hopeful that the establishment of the university would motivate the young ones in the community to aspire to greater heights.

Touching on issues relating to chieftaincy and land disputes in the country, Odeifuo Korankye II noted that issues regarding lands and chieftaincy should not be encouraged in the country since they have the tendency of causing disuniting the community.

He also took the opportunity to call on the local government to engage traditional leaders in the allocation of districts to avoid the problem of land disputes.
