The paramount chief of Mankessim traditional area, Osagyeafo Amanfo Edu, has appealed to Ghanaians to patronize made in Ghana products to support local producers.

He said this at the commissioning of the Rural Technology facility in Mankessim in the Central Region. The Rural Enterprises with support from government, the International Funda for Agricultural Development and the African Development Bank, provided the facility.

The Vice President John Dramani Mahama who commissioned the facility appealed to the youth to take advantage of the rural enterprises programme for them to acquire skills in which they can create their jobs.

He also called on the district assemblies to collaborate with the Rural Enterprises programme to create jobs for the youth.

The Minister of Trade and Industry Hannah Tetteh appealed to the district assemblies to provide offices for the Business Advisory Centre for them to be qualified for the rural technology village.

The programme was started on a piloted basis with two districts in 1995. It now covers 66 districts. The third phase of the programme will cover 160 districts.

The African Development Bank is due to release 70 million dollars for the third phase of the programme.
