Expresso experiences shortage of internet modems

Mobile operator Expresso is reporting higher than expected patronage for its internet data service, CLIQ.

The situation has resulted in a shortage of its modems, a situation which they promise would be resolved by the end of the month.

Officials of the telecommunications network have attributed the shortage to high demand from the Ghanaian market due to its speed and reliability.

Expresso has now completed a network capacity upgrade to accommodate the increasing demand for its data service and will begin extensive sale of the Expresso and CLIQ modems before Christmas.

Speaking to e.tv Ghana’s business journal, Marketing Managere of Expresso Telecom, Freddie Quainoo, said the data service which was introduced last year has received much patronage from the market than it was actually anticipated.

“We actually promised a certain quality of service and we actually did not anticipate that we will get so much people subscribing to our service. But Ghanaians have and the patronage is way beyond our expectations and our initial projections.  One thing we want to do is to maintain a very good quality of service and give true value for money.”

The company is however committed to provide better service to subscribers and would not flood the market with modems if the network’s capacity can’t hold it.
