Accra, Feb. 14, 2012

The licences of 19 courier companies have been revoked by the Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission with effect from January 1, 2012.

The affected companies include DPS Company Limited, Eda Express Services Limited, Beacon Logistics Limited, Speedlink Cargo Services Limited, Bridge Direct Company Limited, World Express International Limited, BKB Courier (Ghana) Limited, 1st Choice Express, A-Men Express Limited, Euni-manuel Company Limited.

The rest are Box Express Limited, US Ghana Express Limited, Black Star Courier Services, Inter-Global Limited, MS Ex Limited, Tramsco Shipping Limited, Ligure International Limited, Cross Ocean Agencies Limited and TNT Express Worldwide.

A statement issued by the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Samuel Kojo Intsiaba said the decision to revoke the licences followed the failure of the affected companies to comply with the conditions of licence in accordance with Section 21 of the Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission Act, 2003 (Act 649).

The statement further said whilst ensuring that Act 649 was strictly adhered to, the Commission would protect consumers against poor quality of service.

The Commission is therefore, reminding all courier operators to take necessary steps to regularise their operations or risk sanctions.
